Part of this film was a healing process for me. In 2019, I lost my aunt to cancer, 3 months after her initial prognosis. The same room where she told the family of her diagnosis was the same room she passed. I remember that night so vividly and the events that lead to it. During those 3 months and beyond I went on autopilot.

As 2020 came along, we experienced the global pandemic, stay-at-home orders, and the plethora of protests due to the losses in the Black community, an idea was sparked.

Collectively, the Black unit has dealt with trauma for generations and the majority of us have not healed from it. We haven't been given the opportunity to heal from it. We have been in a perpetual state of despair and I thought it was time to change that.

As I was going through the process of dealing with the passing of my aunt. I noticed that I started to do things that aided in the healing process myself. I imagined what that would be like with others. This is how the film came to be.

With the recent events as our background and the commonality of the experience, the film was born!

Healing was birthed!
